DIFT - Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen

BRANDING • STRATEGY

Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen aspires to a society where all people live together as equals. To reach their goal, Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen spreads awareness and positivity through sharing stories, by lobbying the interests of refugees and by organizing fundraisers. They aim to give refugees a safe haven by giving them a voice while protecting their needs and rights. We created an entire rebranding for them, to fit their admirable goals and message.

During a branding workshop, we determined together with Vluchtelingwerk Vlaanderen what values are key to their brand and their accomplishments. Afterwards we were able to get started on creating a visual identity based on these core values. All of this resulted in a new branding that radiates optimism, all while being accessible to all newcomers.

Colourful

The logo consists of three overlapping and colourful blocks. These blocks, together with the bold typography, refer to pamphlets often handed out during protests and gatherings. The welcoming and optimistic colours contrast with the strong nature of the typography, creating an accessible message. The original icon of Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen is maintained and sits proudly on top of the logo in a bright green block.

Accessibility

The icons support the visual language of Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen, making it more accessible. Core values, products and touchpoints of the organisation are reimagined in simple and playful icons that go hand in hand with the style of the overlapping blocks of the logo.

We chose striking photography and people centered images to match the logo, playing with framing and colour. The photography directly translates the core values by showing optimism, strength and humaneness.
